Independent Scholar, Writer, Spiritual Practitioner and Intuitive Counsellor.
I’m Dr. Michelle Asantewa, an award-winning author, independent educator, cultural consultant, and publisher. My work includes the young adult novel Elijah, The Awakening and Other Poems, Guyanese Komfa: The Ritual Art of Trance, and Something Buried in the Yard, all published by Way Wive Wordz Publishing, which I co-founded in 2014. I also edited In Search of Mami Wata, an anthology centred on African and Caribbean water spirits.
In 2022, the biography Mama Lou Tales, which tells the story of my mother Lucille Davis, won the Guyana Literary Prize. I co-organize the Annual Osun River Ritual Festival, which takes place on the second Sunday in August at Morden Hall Park in the UK, where we honour African spiritual traditions. In November 2024 my first collection of short stories, Rupununi Affair, and an updated edition of The Re-Awakening were published to mark the 10th anniversary of Way Wive Wordz.
My work has always been about spirituality, creativity and self-empowerment through words. I am passionate about nurturing and supporting individuals on their journeys of personal growth and transformation. With several years of experience in various therapeutic and spiritual creative and intuitive practices, my work has been about holistic healing, personal empowerment, and spiritual development. I started my blog Waywivewordzspiritualcreative many years ago because I felt called to help others navigate through emotional blockages and life challenges by connecting to their higher selves. I’m interested in how we awaken and reawaken to the power of our intuition and find clarity, peace, and a deeper understanding of our true purpose.
My spiritual practices draw from various forms, including energy healing, meditation, and intuitive readings, integrating spiritual wisdom with practical tools for everyday life. Whether working with individuals seeking emotional healing, spiritual guidance, or personal development, my aim is to help others feel empowered to embrace their fullest potential and align with their inner truth.
Through my spiritual work, I am committed to guiding individuals to experiencing profound shifts in their lives, whether it’s overcoming past trauma, finding greater balance, or stepping into their authentic selves. Our reawakening is both individual and collective. Our mission is oneness, and respect for the sacredness of our planet. In this time of reawakening, I welcome you to this safe, nurturing space where you can explore your inner world, fully develop your potential and co-create meaningful change.
